The Atmospheric Environmental Impact Assessment System for Urban Planning, developed by the Beijing Municipal Climate Center in 2003, uses geographic, meteorological, and air quality data to evaluate urban layout schemes and to support urban management on different scales ranging from large cities to small communities and even individual buildings.
