The partnership between the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) formed in 2007 and addresses the need to reduce the impact of global weather and climate related disaster through prevention and preparedness activities, early warning, and early action. Through the IRI-IFRC Partnership, the IRI seeks to understand the weather and climate information needs of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and provide them with the tools and support necessary to use this information to improve disaster management and decision making.
