Partnership to Save Lives: global seasonal forecast updates for the Pacific

The Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre and the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) developed and distributed a series of monthly global seasonal forecast updates for the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement (RC/RC). The updates, which are the product of the organisations’ Partnership to Save Lives, highlighted the influence of a developing La Niña event on rainfall. Updates were sent to warn the Red Cross/Red Crescent, which is the largest humanitarian organisation in the world, of current and expected climate conditions as well as the possible implications for disaster management and health related programmes.
