Bringing Space to Village: Engaging users with climate science tools for improved decision-making

This event is led by the SERVIR Program Demand Activity, a project designed to provide support in specific social science capacities to the overall SERVIR Program and to the regional partners which host SERVIR in the field. While closely linked to the science activities, the key objectives of the Demand Activity is to support the regional hubs’ efforts to strengthen the capacity of users to utilize the geospatial tools and decision-support applications created by the SERVIR program. Through communications and outreach, user engagemetn activities, and by applying monitoring and evaluation, the Demand Activity is focused on cultivating the demand for and increasing the uptake of user-friendly climate change decision support tools and applications, while building capacity of stakeholders to incorporate such data into development decision-making. This three-hour workshop with SERVIR experts will provide an opportunity for a range of experts to explore resources, methodologies, best practices, and lessons learned around various topics to support the update of decision-support tools and climate services.

Enhancing user uptake of climate services (by invitation)

This technical meeting of PPCR countries will provide country-level actors the opportunity to share knowledge and perspectives regarding challenges and opportunites to the implementation of hydromet activities.

Latin American Observatory Members Meeting (by invitation)
Tuesday, December 9, 9 am – 12 pm

The Latin American Observatory (www.ole2.org) will held a session to discuss the outcomes of a recent evaluation regarding  the use of its products, network structure, governance, communication methods and the efficacy of its technology and knowledge transfer methods. The meeting is expected to lead to the identification of a set of goals and actions to improve and consolidate key processes in the partnership. The session will conclude with the approval of the work plan for the next 3 years.
